Gianni (Giovanni) Rufini was born in Rome in 1954. Currently, he is a Subject Matter Expert (Humanitarian Aid) for the NATO Joint Warfare Centre, a senior trainer for the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, and the Coordinator of the Crisis Monitoring Group. He is also a Research Director with CeSPI and member of its Steering Committee. Since 1996 he is Associate Fellow of the Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit, at the University of York (UK). He is Course Coordinator at the Institute for Intl. Politics Studies in Milan, and the "Sapienza" University in Rome. He lectures on humanitarian aid in several universities, including Paris “Sorbonne”, “Bocconi” and “Bicocca” in Milan, IUAV in Venice, American University (Washington and Rome), ULB (Brussels), Scuola Superiore S.Anna in Pisa, Legon (Ghana), Bethlehem (OTP). He has been a faculty of the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre from 1995 to 1998. A former media-man, with a background in anthropology, since 1985, he has worked in development and humanitarian aid for several International NGOs (Relief International, Movimondo, Handicap International, ActionAid, Intersos, NCCI, UPP, ReC) and UN agencies (FAO and UNDP-UNOPS). From 1985 to 1994, he has carried out field work in Ghana, Palestine and Argentina as Programme Director, in activities ranging from rural development to health aid and assistance to street children. He has been engaged in over 60 missions in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the Balkans for project identification, monitoring and evaluation. |
Gianni Rufini - nato a Roma nel 1954 - è un esperto di aiuto umanitario, già direttore del coordinamento europeo delle ONG umanitarie VOICE, dal 1997 al 2001. Attualmente, è Subject Matter Expert (Humanitarian Aid) per il Joint Warfare Centre della NATO, senior trainer per lo European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, e Coordinatore del Crisis Monitoring Group. E’ anche direttore di Ricerca al CeSPI e membro del suo Consiglio Direttivo. Dal 1996 è Senior Associate della Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit dell'Università di York. E’ anche direttore di ricerca per il CeSPI, e coordinatore di corsi presso l'ISPI (Milano) e l’università La Sapienza di Roma. Già membro del Pearson Peacekeeping Centre (Canada), insegna in numerose università, tra le quali la Scuola Superiore S. Anna di Pisa, l'ULB di Bruxelles, Bocconi e Bicocca (Milano), Bethlehem University, IUAV di Venezia, ed è stato visiting lecturer presso Paris Sorbonne (DESS) e Madrid (Carlos III), American University di Washington e Roma, John Cabot University e Legon (Ghana). Dal 1985 al 2001, ha lavorato in India, Ghana, Palestina e Argentina come direttore di progetti di sviluppo ed aiuto umanitario, ed è stato impegnato in oltre 60 missioni in Africa, Asia, Medio Oriente, Balcani e America Latina, con diverse ONG italiane e internazionali (Relief International, Movimondo, Handicap International, ActionAid, Intersos, NCCI, ReC, UPP), ed agenzie delle Nazioni Unite (FAO e UNDP-UNOPS). |
